Steps:
- Check the current oil level
- Warm up the engine:3–minutes in the water. (for the 2008 rev the engine to 4000 RPM before killing it.)
- Prepare for extraction: remove seat, deck, Dipstick & loosen filler cap.
- Extract the old oil: Extractor pump (negative terminal first)
- Perform a brief 'flooded start' :Crucial step - remove the extraction hose before starting. For not more than 5 seconds hold the throttle at full and start button to turn over.
- Extract again : re-insert extraction tube and pump again (if you have less than 2.25 quarts and the level measured in step 1 was within normal range, then repeat steps 5 & 6 again
- Replace the oil filter and O-rings: New filter & seals.
- Refill with fresh oil: Match extracted amount or check specs. (typically ~3.0–3.5 quarts out of the total 4.8 qt system capacity) Check with dipstick for level.
- Test and inspect: Leak check. (run on the water, then wait >30 seconds after shutoff for the oil to settle, then pull and check the dipstick. The level should sit midway in the crosshatched section (not above the MAX line))
- Button up: Final re-assembly.
